Situated at the top of St Michael's Hill.

This used to be the city boundary of Bristol and was also a place of execution. Protestant Martyrs were burned here during the Marian persecutions, as detailed on the stone below.


This notice reads: Bewell's Cross The large stone at the base of this wall is a fragment of the Medieval Bewell's Cross that marked the boundary of Bristol until the 19th Century.
